Susan Boyle: Suprise Performance at "Britain's Got Talent"TV Show

The moment we've all been waiting to see on American Idol this season has happened -- on another show. Last week on Britain's Got Talent, Susan Boyle, an unemployed 47-year-old woman from Blackburn Scotland who's "never been kissed, actually," walked out on stage as the three judges -- one of whom is Simon Cowell -- began sharpening their critical knives as they prepared to verbally fillet her.

But then Susan Boyle started to sing. And she sang I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables. And she sang it beautifully.

If you haven't seen her performance -- and something on the order of 7 million people already have -- you need to watch this video:

This is the promise of American Idol, that some blowsy woman with a 10-year-old cat named Pebbles can show up and enthrall a nation.

So what do you think of Susan? And why do you think American Idol hasn't seen more moments like this one? Is Susan a good argument for expanding the show's age limit? Or are those things best left other shows like, oh, I don't know, America's Got Talent?
